Introduction
Dr. June Murphy specializes in maternal-fetal medicine (high-risk pregnancy care). She cares for mothers and their unborn children who have complex circumstances, such as multiple gestation, preterm labor, or other health complications. “Over the years, I’ve learned that the best outcomes involve truly listening to your whole team – nurses, sonographers, and the patient and her family,” Dr. Murphy explains.
As a mom, Dr. Murphy understands that the most important thing to parents is the health and well-being of their children.
“Growing up, I was keenly aware of how vulnerable people become when a loved one is sick. For loving parents who are concerned about their unborn child, this vulnerability is magnified. Helping families through these tough times and doing everything I can to alleviate their worries and get them the best possible outcome is the greatest challenge and reward of my career.”
Dr. Murphy urges women who are thinking about starting a family to prepare their bodies for pregnancy. Take a prenatal vitamin, avoid drugs and alcohol, manage diabetes and other health conditions, and be sure that any medicine you’re taking is safe to use during pregnancy.
Outside of work, Dr. Murphy enjoys the outdoors. She started skiing for the first time at age 36 with her son, who was only 4 at the time. Now she loves skiing, snowmobiling, and boating with her family.
