Dr. Merhala Balasubramaniam, or Dr. Bala, is a pulmonary and critical care physician who thrives in fast-paced environments, but she still prioritizes time with patients and their families for answering questions and getting what they need. She brings kindness and competence into acute situations.

“My role goes beyond the medical aspect. It’s also supporting the family, so they understand their loved one is being taken care of,” she says. “I come from a close-knit family, so I think about how I would want to be treated if my loved one was sick.”

Dr. Bala enjoys landscape photography and hiking and is trained in Indian classical dance.
