Inpatient Behavioral Health
Concentrated Care When You Need It
If your provider feels that you need round-the-clock care, they may recommend that you be admitted to our Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. This unit has 18 beds for adults who are seeking treatment for emotional or mental disorders or medical treatment for withdrawal.
What to Expect
Your admission typically begins with a visit to the Emergency Department, where you’ll have a physical examination. If you are medically stable, we’ll transport you to the Inpatient Behavioral Health Acute Care Unit.
Once on the Acute Care Unit, you’ll have an initial evaluation that includes your health history, current problems, and treatment needs.
You’ll stay in a private room and wear hospital scrubs while you’re here. For your safety, this unit is kept locked. Your room will have limited furnishings, and your personal belongings will be kept in a locker at the nurse’s station.
A stay in this unit usually lasts between three and six days. You will see your psychiatric provider each day during your stay.
An important part of your recovery is interaction with other people. We encourage you to interact with our staff and other patients by taking part in therapy activities, eating in our dining room, and coming to the nurse’s stations with any requests (rooms do not feature a nurse call system). You may watch TV and use the telephone in our patient lounges.
While here, you’ll work with your provider on your treatment plan and help develop plans for your discharge When you are ready to discharge, we will help ensure that you have outpatient behavioral health care set up to fit your needs.
