Outpatient Behavioral Health
Comprehensive Mental and Emotional Healthcare
(406) 455-2368
Benefis offers a full spectrum of behavioral healthcare services on an outpatient basis. Our levels of outpatient care include evaluation, outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization. We’ll work with you to find the care that best meets your needs.
Evaluation Services
Your first appointment at Benefis Behavioral Health Outpatient Services is an evaluation interview. You’ll talk with one of our licensed professionals so we can gather basic information about you and your reasons for coming to us.
We offer behavioral health diagnostic evaluations, neuropsychological assessments, pre-surgical evaluations (e.g., for bariatric surgery or for spinal cord stimulator placement), and evaluations for behavioral health treatment recommendations. For some of the evaluations, we may also ask you to do individualized testing.
We use the information from these evaluations to understand you better as a person and to make recommendations for treatment (if needed). We will work with you to develop a treatment plan, either at Benefis with another agency in the community.
Outpatient Therapy
Your evaluation may show that you’ll do best with outpatient therapy. That can include individual therapy and/or group therapy sessions, tailored to fit your needs. We will encourage you to be involved in identifying your problem areas and in developing objectives for behavior change. We offer group therapy for substance abuse disorders, chronic pain management, and more! During your initial evaluation you will learn more about all of these options.
Intensive Outpatient Program and Partial Hospitalization Program
If you need more than outpatient care but don’t need to be hospitalized, intensive outpatient treatment or partial hospitalization may be right for you. These levels of care may also be helpful as a bridge from inpatient care to outpatient care. Both of these programs specialize in treating mental health concerns and/or substance use disorders.
Both programs (intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization) can help you:
- Understand your disorder.
- Make changes in your behavior and attitude that can support your recovery and health.
- Improve your daily life situation.
- Learn skills to manage your life, despite symptoms and without using alcohol or other non-prescription mood-altering substances.
These programs give you a supportive environment that emphasizes self-responsibility, independence, and stability. In the evening, you go home to eat dinner and sleep in your own bed.
Partial hospitalization is an all-day program that usually last up to four weeks, depending on your individual needs.
Intensive outpatient treatment is a few hours per day and a few days per week, typically for a few months.
