Support and Resources
If You’ve Been Diagnosed with Cancer, We’ve Got You Covered
Look for the compassionate care you need beyond your cancer treatment. Going through cancer treatment requires support for your mind, body, and spirit. The Benefis Sletten Cancer Institute's programs and services are designed to fit your and your family's needs throughout your cancer journey.
Empowering Cancer Support Services
Rely on us to help you with services and support, such as:
- Chaplains and social workers who will meet with you and your family to provide help and support or just to listen.
- Financial assistance for patients and their families. Our counselors help with guidance for insurance and payment issues.
- Dietitians who are nutrition experts and can help nourish you before, during, and after cancer treatment.
- Expanded Genetic Counseling Program, which helps save lives through early intervention.
- Forge, where you’ll find grab-and-go items, as well as an automatic coffee machine for when you need a boost.
- Jorgensen and Wylder Families Salon, where our cosmetologist helps you work through your hair plan as you go through treatments.
- Patient navigators who guide you through the medical, financial, scheduling, and other aspects of cancer care.
- Palliative care, which provides needed support to you and your family while you are receiving cancer care, and it can be used at any point in your treatment.
- Physical and other rehabilitative therapies to help maximize your recovery and minimize discomfort from cancer or cancer treatments.
- Support groups where you can connect with other cancer patients and survivors to share concerns, advice, and stories.
Gift of Life Housing
If you must travel to Great Falls for treatment, our Gift of Life Housing provides a home away from home while you are receiving treatment at Benefis. You and a family member can stay at one of our two Gift of Life Housing centers. These one-bedroom apartments feature fully equipped kitchens, linens and towels, and a laundry room on site. Gift of Life Housing also offers short-stay rooms that are similar to hotel rooms, and RV spaces with water and electricity hookups. This donor-supported program is free to our patients.
Husted Teaching Kitchen
During treatment, you may struggle to stay nourished. Join a class at our teaching kitchen to learn tips on how to manage your nutritional needs from dietitians and chefs.
These classes will offer strategies on how to incorporate different flavors, textures, and nutrients into your diet to mitigate the changes you will likely experience from some types of cancer treatment.
