Physician-Supervised Weight Loss

Lose Weight With Expert Guidance

If you need to lose weight and you haven’t been able to do it on your own, you can get a medically supervised weight loss plan to help you lose the weight safely and keep it off. You get individual attention and a customized weight loss program, designed by a healthcare provider who specializes in weight loss.

Each person has unique challenges that can keep them from losing weight. We determine what’s stopping you from realizing your ideal weight and develop a program that gives you the guidance and support you need to reach your goals.

Your provider designs and oversees your program and monitors your health to ensure your safety, including your medicines, blood pressure, or any health conditions such as diabetes or heart disease. They collaborate with your primary care provider or specialists, and coordinate tests and medical care services.

Your program may include:

  • Consultations with a psychologist who specializes in weight loss
  • Recommendations for additional guidance and support, such as individual counseling with a dietitian, nutrition classes, or an exercise program
  • Referral to a bariatric surgeon (when appropriate) or assistance and oversight after weight loss surgery
  • Weight loss medicines
  • We develop a program that offers you the best chance for success.

Personalized Nutrition Education

If you have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more, it increases your risk for many health problems, including heart disease, stroke, and some types of cancer. We offer an individualized, one-on-one nutrition education program to help you lose weight and improve your health.

The program includes between six months to a year of one-on-one consultations with a registered dietitian. Together, you set realistic goals and develop strategies to take off the pounds and maintain a healthy weight long term.

Here’s how the program works:

  • You meet with a dietitian once a week for the first four weeks.
  • After the first four weeks, you see the dietitian every other week for the next five months.
  • If you lose 6.6 pounds or more at the end of the five-month period, you’re eligible to continue the program for another six months.

Generally, the program is covered by Medicare and Medicaid, but check with your insurance provider to learn about your coverage before your first visit.
