The Progressive Care Vascular Unit is Benefis’ largest acute care inpatient area with 33 beds.
PCVU is a critical-care stepdown unit that treats a multitude of patient diagnoses. Our skilled nursing staff cares for almost all patient populations (except pediatrics and neonatal) and works alongside a unit-based pharmacist, respiratory therapy, physical and occupational therapy, wound care, dietary, discharge planning, and spiritual care. Nurses work closely with cardiologists, neurologists, trauma surgeons, intensivists, hospitalists, and specialty providers to provide patient-centered care.
Our tailored, 10-week PCVU residency program gives new graduates and experienced nurses a strong foundation as well as focused education. It is essential that our staff directs how our unit functions, so we have a robust unit-based shared governance committee as well as other unit-based committees to help us achieve that vision.
