Surgical Unit
Surgical is a 21-bed unit for patients requiring overnight hospital stays but not ICU stays.
In this unit, nurses will have an excellent opportunity to learn about caring for patients with a variety of surgical conditions while gaining a broad base of skills and clinical knowledge. Nurses on this unit care for a variety of high-acuity patients while focusing on compassionate patient and family-centered care. The general surgery patient population is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal organs, e.g., intestines including esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and bile ducts, as well as diseases involving the breast.
A strong emphasis is placed on professional development through continuing education, professional certifications, and mentoring, all while maintaining a high standard of care for patients and their families. This unit offers motivated nurses the opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team that prides itself in getting our community members back to living healthy lives.
